Ranbir Kapoor and Pallavi Sharada New Bollywood Film Besharam Movie Review:

There's a lot going for Besharam; the maker who gave cine buffs their much loved character Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan), Abhinav Kashyap being at the helm of affairs, Ranbir Kapoor, who is in top form, playing the lead and the evergreen pair Rishi Kapoor - Neetu Singh playing couple oncreen. Given the team, one expects fireworks onscreen with Besharam. But the movie is anything but good!

Yes, you heard me right. Besharam treads the route walked by many superstars and filmmakers who intend to cash in the big bucks by shoving ample masala, naach-gaana and action into a movie, then who cares if there's any logic to the film at all

Story:

Babli (Ranbir Kapoor) is a talented mechanic by the day and an unabashed thief by the night who doesn't give two hoots about stealing cars of people and then either breaking them down into parts or selling them in entirety to dealers of stolen cars. Life is good till he stumbles upon love in the name of Tara Sharma (Pallavi Sharda). Little does he know that the girl he is wooing also happens to be the owner of a red Mercedes he has stolen and sold off to a goon (Jaaved Jaffery). Now while he is trying to undo his untoward act by stealing, this time for good, back the car from the goon, he finds himself caught between the goon and cops Chulbul Chautala (Rishi Kapoor) and wife Bulbul Chautala (Neetu Singh).

Artists Performance:

The wannabe tag brushes off on Ranbir Kapoor too who despite having done some tremendous films in his budding career takes a fatal step as if to desperately prove a point that he too is a massy superstar. Probably the weakest film from the heartthrob, the movie has his performance oscillating from over-acting to lunacy. Both Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh too try their best to shoulder the film and also give some really great moments but sadly even their efforts go down the dirty drain.

There's nothing majorly wrong in newcomer Pallavi Sharda except she appears straight out television serials and hence incongruous. Jaaved Jaffery barely has anything to offer except looking his part well.

Technical and Other Departments:

Music is Avarage. High Production Values. There are as many as 7 songs in the film that keep mushrooming every now and then for no rhyme or reason. Not that the songs composed by Lalit Pandit, Ishq Bector or Shree D are any good anyway. Cinemautography is good. Screenplay is Avarage.

Movie Analysis:

Filmmaker Abhinav Singh Kashyap, brother to the torch-bearer of alternate cinema Anurag Kashyap, is credited with making the blockbuster film Dabangg. The filmmaker had been unceremoniously dropped from the sequel of the film and one look at Besharam and you know why. Looking at the story of the film, it amazes how the maker managed to rope in not just Ranbir Kapoor but also his parents into the film.

Besharam is filled with gross moments that will make you gag on the Pepsi or pop corn that you may have bought to while away your time through this 138 minutes of nonsensical ordeal. The movie tries way too hard to step into the masala zone and only ends up being a 'wannabe' attempt.

Final View:

Overall, Besharam is a shamefully disappointing film. Watch any other Ranbir Kapoor film instead.
